MONDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2017

Do you know of people who could benefit from new technologies to lead a meaningful life or to participate in their community?

New assistive technologies (AT) solutions offer opportunities to people with disabilities to stay connected and engaged in meaningful, active and community life. People are using technology to control homes, access computers, communicate, and move about in their communities of choice.

However many people may be unaware or uncertain of newer technologies available, or experience challenges in choosing and implementing the right technology to achieve their goals and hopes.

This presentation outlines some of the newer technology options that offer opportunities to people with disabilities in living a meaningful life. Join us in exploring real life stories of people using technology and case studies of NDIS participants offering insights into important considerations for people who use assistive technologies.

During the presentation we’ll spend some time discussing technology opportunities and barriers for the consumers you work alongside, and workshopping the challenges that you encounter as a service provider.

  • Overview of new technology opportunities
  • Digital stories of technology use
  • The AT journey: stories from NDIS participants
  •  Free AT tools and resources
  •  Accessing AT support and information services
  • Workshopping the challenges
  • Questions and answers
