Our aim is to enable people of all ages and abilities to actively engage in home, work, school and community life.
We can provide these services at our offices, your home, workplace, school, or any other location at any time. Telehealth (video consultations) are also available.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
People who experience complex communication needs (CCN) benefit from the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solutions to meet their communication needs and enhance life experiences.
Driving assessments and vehicle modification
The Department of Transport and Main Roads, your doctor or friends and family may request you to undertake an assessment if a medical illness, disability or age is affecting your driving. A driving assessment can determine your ability to drive or learn to control a vehicle safely. This assessment can only be conducted by a qualified driver trained occupational therapist. Vehicle modifications may be considered for a range of reasons to enable a person to drive safely, and stow their mobility aids to increase their level of independence. Vehicle modifications may also be required to allow a person to travel seated in a wheelchair and reduce the risk of injury during transfers. It is also possible to review vehicle ergonomics, transfers, and seating for an easier and more comfortable travel experience.
Home modification and design
Home modifications are changes made to the structure, layout, or fittings of a house. Examples of minor modifications include the installation of grab rails, threshold ramps, hand held showers and handrails. Examples of major modifications include structural changes to bathrooms, ramps, lifts and widening doorways. Modifications to your house can increase safety, offering your family peace of mind and comfort.
Many assistive technologies are becoming widely available to assist people with low vision or vision impairment to maintain their independence and safety in the home, workplace or the community.
