What is home maintenance?

CHSP home maintenance services assist clients to maintain their home in a safe and habitable condition. Examples of home maintenance funded under the program include:

Install/replace smoke alarms and/or their batteries;
Replace light bulbs;
Minor carpentry work (repairs to doors, locks, cupboards etc);
Re-mesh window and door fly screens;
Install perspex door shields on screen doors;
Minor repairs to toilets;
Repair and replace taps;
Electrical work including replacement and maintenance of ceiling fans, lights, switches and power points.

All work must be authorised by LifeTec and we do not offer emergency maintenance services.

Program Contribution

LifeTec is funded by My Aged Care under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to provide eligible seniors with major home modifications. Under this program, there are co-contribution requirements of consumers, please contact LifeTec to discuss.

Who can apply?

Under the CHSP LifeTec can provide assistance with home maintenance to eligible seniors, who are frail older people aged 65 years and over (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and who have difficulty doing everyday tasks.

Ineligible persons are those who are:

Public housing tenants;
Tenants renting from providers who receive funding to provide appropriate accommodation for people with a disability or
Where the modifications are considered to be the responsibility of the property owner or as part of the tenancy agreement;
Carers of people listed above.
